Intimate Weddings at Apollo Fields
Intimate Weddings at Apollo Fields
At Apollo Fields in Flemington, New Jersey, we’ve always believed that weddings should feel as warm as they are beautiful. Over the years, we’ve hosted celebrations of every size, but the intimate ones stand apart. There’s a certain magic when the guest list is pared down and the focus shifts from entertaining a crowd to hosting a gathering. It feels cozier, more thoughtful, and—above all—more personal.
An intimate wedding here isn’t about compromise. It’s about connection. The setting becomes a backdrop for real moments: laughter around the table, toasts that land with meaning, and the feeling that every single guest is both present and essential.
The Atmosphere of Intimacy
When you step onto our property, you immediately feel the balance of openness and welcome. The grounds stretch wide, offering space to breathe, but the atmosphere itself feels inviting and familiar. For intimate weddings, that balance is what makes Apollo Fields so special.
Instead of a sprawling event where it’s easy to lose track of time and people, smaller celebrations make every detail matter more. A candle flickering on the dinner table isn’t just part of the décor—it’s light bouncing off the face of a friend you’ve known for years. A toast isn’t something said for the microphone—it’s something spoken into a room where every guest leans in to listen.
The intimacy transforms the day from a performance into a gathering. It becomes less about scale and more about soul.
Spaces That Welcome You In
Our venue is versatile by design, and that flexibility is what allows intimate weddings to thrive here. A space that feels alive with 50 guests can just as easily be transformed into something warm and cozy for 20.
Ceremonies: In an intimate setting, the ceremony feels deeply connected. Instead of rows upon rows of seating, every guest has a front-row view. You can see each face as you exchange vows, hear every laugh, and catch the quiet sniffles from your parents or friends as your story unfolds.
Dinner: The Great Room easily becomes a long, communal dining space. Picture a table styled with linen runners, glowing candles, and simple but elegant floral arrangements. Guests pass dishes family-style or savor plated courses, leaning into conversations that feel unhurried and real.
Cocktails and Lounges: Smaller guest lists allow for lounge vignettes, signature cocktails, and nooks for conversation. Instead of being one voice among a hundred, your guests can settle in, talk, and enjoy the kind of hospitality that feels more like a dinner party than a production.
This adaptability means intimate weddings at Apollo Fields don’t feel sparse—they feel curated. The spaces mold themselves around the size of the celebration, ensuring nothing ever feels too big or too small.
The Gift of Time
One of the things we love most about intimate weddings is the way they slow the day down. When you’re not moving between hundreds of guests, you have time to actually savor each moment.
We’ve seen couples take unhurried walks through the grounds as the sun dips low, laughing together while their photographer captures the in-between moments. We’ve watched them sit down to dinner and truly eat—not just pick at a plate before rushing off to the next dance or photo. Guests linger, too. Conversations don’t get cut short, and laughter has room to breathe.
This shift in pace creates an atmosphere of ease. It’s not just about celebrating—it’s about experiencing.
Hospitality at the Heart
We see weddings as an act of hospitality. At Apollo Fields, our role is to provide not only a beautiful space but also a sense of welcome that makes guests feel cared for. Intimate weddings bring that philosophy to the forefront.
With smaller guest counts, the hospitality becomes more personal. Couples often use this as a chance to add thoughtful details:
Handwritten notes tucked into place settings.
Menus designed around favorite flavors or shared travels.
Welcome drinks served with a story behind them.
Playlists curated to feel like the soundtrack of their relationship.
Every touch becomes intentional. Guests notice, and they remember. And we love seeing how those details fit seamlessly into our venue, enhancing the atmosphere rather than competing with it.
Coziness as Luxury
There’s a misconception that intimacy means scaling down. We believe the opposite: intimacy creates space for luxury. With fewer moving parts, couples can focus their budget and energy on details that make the day feel elevated and unforgettable.
We’ve seen tablescapes styled with chic modern florals, champagne towers glowing under soft lights, and carefully chosen linens that make the whole room feel polished. We’ve also seen the luxury of simplicity: a beautifully plated dinner, a perfectly balanced cocktail, or a lounge area where guests sink into sofas and stay there for hours.
At Apollo Fields, coziness and elegance aren’t opposites—they’re partners. Together, they create a sense of understated sophistication that’s perfect for intimate celebrations.
Why Apollo Fields Loves Intimate Weddings
For us—Heather and Terrence, husband-and-wife photographers and venue owners—intimate weddings remind us why we started this work. We built Apollo Fields to feel like an extension of home: welcoming, thoughtful, and filled with heart. Smaller weddings embody that spirit in its purest form.
We’ve watched couples greet every guest by name, hug everyone without rushing, and look back at the end of the night knowing they were fully present. We’ve seen parents relax, friends bond, and couples sink into the joy of the moment without distraction.
That’s the gift of an intimate wedding: it makes room for the things that matter most. And that’s why Apollo Fields is such a natural fit for them.
Planning Your Own
If you’re considering an intimate wedding, know that you don’t have to choose between elegance and warmth. At Apollo Fields, you can have both. Our venue adapts to the scale of your celebration, balancing modern design with a sense of hospitality that feels timeless.
Whether you envision a dinner that feels like the best dinner party of your life, a ceremony where every guest is part of the story, or a dance floor filled with familiar faces, Apollo Fields can bring that vision to life.
Because here, intimacy isn’t about less. It’s about more. More connection. More presence. More memories you’ll want to return to again and again.
Apollo Fields: Our Story of Love, Photography, and Creating a Wedding Venue
When people ask us how Apollo Fields began, we often smile because the answer is layered. At its core, Apollo Fields is our love story—one that started with a chance meeting in New York City, grew through late nights of dreaming and creating, and eventually took root here in Flemington, New Jersey, where we built not just a wedding photography business but a microwedding venue where couples can create their own lasting stories.
We are Heather and Terrence Huie, the husband-and-wife team behind Apollo Fields, and we’re proud to have grown a business that is as much about connection and storytelling as it is about photos and celebrations.

How We Met and Why We Started Apollo Fields
Back in 2014, we met while both working in hospitality in New York City. Heather was celebrating her birthday with a book in hand, and I was bartending at the time. That small, serendipitous moment eventually turned into conversations, creative collaboration, and, before long, a vision for the kind of life and work we wanted to build together.
By 2016, we had moved to Colorado, chasing a dream of wide-open spaces and creative freedom. Out there, we experimented with projects that blended both of our passions—photography and writing. One of our earliest ideas was a cookbook that combined recipes with poems and photographs. That little experiment gave us the confidence to combine our skills into something larger. Apollo Fields was born from the belief that weddings—and the memories they create—deserve to be documented in a way that’s deeply personal and lasting.
Our Philosophy: More Than Just Photos
For Heather, photography has always been about light and authenticity—capturing couples as they really are, in their element, with their personalities shining through. For Terrence, writing is a way to distill those fleeting wedding-day emotions into something tangible. Together, we realized we could offer couples not only wedding photography but also the gift of storytelling.
Some of our couples receive handwritten poems inspired by their stories, or intimate photo deliveries where we sit down together and relive the wedding day over dinner. Those touches may seem small, but they’re the heartbeat of what we do: creating a space where our couples feel seen, celebrated, and truly cared for.

Why Apollo Fields Is Different
People sometimes ask us what makes Apollo Fields unique. We tell them it’s a combination of art, intention, and hospitality.
Photography & Poetry: Heather captures timeless, luminous images, and Terrence often creates poems based on a couple’s story. It’s not just a wedding gallery—it’s a narrative keepsake.
Hospitality: Because of our hospitality backgrounds, we see every interaction as part of the experience. Delivering albums in person or hosting dinners for couples feels natural to us—it’s about connection.
Personalization: We intentionally limit the number of weddings we take on. That means every couple receives the full scope of our attention and creativity.
Authenticity: We don’t believe in manufactured moments. Your day should reflect you—not a Pinterest board or a template. When you book Apollo Fields, you’re not just hiring vendors. You’re inviting us into your story, and we take that responsibility seriously.

From Photography to a Wedding Venue
In 2024, we expanded Apollo Fields beyond photography and storytelling by opening our own microwedding venue in Flemington, New Jersey. Our property includes an equestrian farm setting, surrounded by fields and fresh country air, designed specifically for intimate celebrations of up to 50 guests.
We decided to create a venue because so many couples we worked with were craving something smaller, more intentional, and less overwhelming than a traditional ballroom wedding. By combining our skills in photography, event design, and hospitality, we acquired a space where couples can have everything they need in one place:
A charming, private venue in Hunterdon County
Catering and rentals designed for intimate events
Photography and storytelling woven seamlessly into the day
A relaxed, welcoming environment where every detail is customized
We host only a limited number of events each month to keep things special. For us, it’s not about volume—it’s about giving each couple the care and attention they deserve.
Life Behind the Lens and on the Farm
Running Apollo Fields is more than just our business—it’s our lifestyle. We live on the property with our children, which means the venue is an extension of our family. Parenthood has shaped how we approach our work. The chaos, the humor, and the joy of raising kids have given us even more appreciation for fleeting moments—the same ones we capture at weddings.
Terrence often shares his reflections in our blog, writing about the balance between family life and entrepreneurship. Heather brings that same mindset into photography—always seeking the real, unscripted moments that tell the truest story.

Serving Couples in New Jersey, New York, and Beyond
Although our farm is located in Flemington, NJ, we’ve photographed weddings all over—New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wyoming, Maine, North Carolina and even a couple overseas destinations in France, St. Thomas, and the Dominican Republic. We love the diversity of couples we meet and the stories we get to tell. Whether it’s a country microwedding at our venue, a grand celebration in New York City, or an intimate elopement on the coast, we bring the same heart and artistry to every event.
Couples often tell us that what drew them to Apollo Fields was our mix of editorial photography, authentic storytelling, and warm hospitality. We’re proud of that. It means our brand resonates with people who want more than staged photos—they want a wedding experience that feels like them.
Why Couples Choose Apollo Fields
We’ve learned that couples choose us not just for what we do, but for how we make them feel.
They want images that look timeless but still capture their personalities.
They want a venue that feels personal and private.
They want vendors who are as invested in the story as they are.
That’s why Apollo Fields has become more than a business. It’s a community. Many of our couples become friends, and we’ve even welcomed them back to the farm for anniversaries, family portraits, or just to share a meal.
Looking Ahead
Our dream is simple: to keep telling love stories in ways that feel meaningful, intimate, and beautiful. As Apollo Fields continues to grow, we’re excited to host more microweddings in New Jersey, capture more heartfelt celebrations, and meet couples who resonate with our vision.
Every wedding we photograph and every event we host reinforces why we started this journey in the first place. We believe love deserves to be celebrated authentically, and we feel honored every time a couple trusts us to capture that.

Apollo Fields has intentionally chosen to remain small and personal — hosting a maximum of two events per month. For your microwedding, that means customized attention, undivided care, and the freedom to create a meaningful, stress-free experience.
3. A Venue with Personality and Purpose
This is no cold, corporate ballroom — Apollo Fields feels like home. With its understated elegance, natural setting, and personal touches, it’s a place where “off-the-rack” weddings don’t make sense, but a bespoke experience does. Whether you envision a barefoot ceremony on dew-kissed grass, a cozy outdoor dinner under string lights, or a lounge-style reception amid barn-inspired décor, this venue molds itself around your vision.
4. The Equestrian Edge
Though not a full-fledged horse show facility, Apollo Fields brings equestrian charm in subtler, more intimate strokes. It’s about more than aesthetics — it's the palpable sense of calm and gentle rhythm that comes from hosting your event on an equestrian farm. Generational barns, open fields, and maybe even a passing horse bring an organic elegance that no meticulously staged venue can replicate.
5. Tailored Functionality Meets Vulnerable Beauty
A microwedding isn't about budget constraints — it's about experience. Apollo Fields offers what many large venues cannot: focused service, creative flexibility, and the kind of attention that turns fleeting moments into lifelong memories. Whether you're planning a ceremony, cocktail hour, portrait session, or even a post-wedding brunch, every detail is elevated by the property’s thoughtful pacing and familiarity.
