There’s something especially fun about photographing a wedding where the couple is clearly just excited to finally get everyone they love together in one place. Erica and Seth’s wedding at Edgewood Country Club in River Vale, New Jersey was exactly that: elegant, energetic, and centered around their favorite people.

From their first look around the grounds of Edgewood to their Ketubah signing, ceremony, and packed dance floor, the day gave us the perfect mix of beautiful portraits and completely candid moments—the kind of balance we’re always looking for when photographing a wedding. Erica and Seth specifically told us they loved a combination of candids and portraits that still showed off the setting, while Seth was firmly on team candid.

A Little About Erica & Seth

Erica and Seth’s story started with a first date at Socarrat, a Spanish restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. Seth initially thought the date might not be going particularly well because Erica was so quiet. In reality, she was shy—and also dealing with some serious wisdom-tooth pain.

Apparently none of that mattered, because the date ended with a kiss good enough that Seth managed to get on the subway going in the wrong direction afterward. Erica immediately texted her best friend to tell her that Seth was cute and she liked him.

Their relationship grew through family gatherings, travel, and the smaller moments that tend to tell you the most about someone. Erica remembers watching Seth happily sitting in temple at his cousin’s bar mitzvah and realizing how much she loved his ability to enjoy himself wherever he was. Seth remembers a trip to Portugal, watching Erica patiently talk with an elderly couple over wine by the water, and thinking that her combination of compassion and beauty made her someone he absolutely needed to keep around.

Erica and Seth chose Edgewood Country Club in River Vale, NJ for both their ceremony and reception, allowing the entire wedding day to unfold in one location.

Before the ceremony, we had plenty of time built into the afternoon for their first look, wedding party photographs, family portraits, and couple portraits around the property. Erica and Seth wanted plenty of photographs that incorporated the scenery at Edgewood, so having time to explore the grounds before the celebration really got underway was important.

One of the particularly meaningful parts of the day was their Ketubah signing before the ceremony, something they had specifically noted as a must-have moment for us to document.

But what they were most excited about was much simpler: seeing one another and celebrating with everyone they love. Erica couldn’t wait for Seth to see her for the first time, while Seth was looking forward to exchanging rings, seeing Erica in her wedding dress, and officially beginning their lives together surrounded by their favorite people.

The Details

Erica and Seth worked with a wonderful group of New Jersey and New York wedding vendors to bring the celebration together. Their floral design was created by New City Florist, entertainment came from Hank Lane Music’s Elevation Band, and their wedding cake was from A Little Cake. Erica wore a gown from Jaehee Bridal, with beauty by Kacey Engel Beauty and Casey Veda.

And after the wedding? Erica and Seth were headed to Maui and Kauai for their honeymoon—ready for some well-earned relaxing, exploring, and, according to Seth, plenty of good food.
