Our Story

Welcome, friends.

Thank you for taking the time out to visit Apollo Fields.  This is truly our dream business and to be able to run it together is proof that hard work and good fun pay off.

A little about us:  We met in 2014 in the Upper West Side of New York City as  a couple of side-hustling bartenders at opposite-facing restaurants on the corner of 105th St & Broadway.  We were both finishing our degrees and pursuing our creative passions with our eyes towards turning them into careers.  Timing is everything and we're lucky to have found each other at points in our lives where we were both independent people – grounded in reality yet ambitious for the future.

Our relationship was quickly filled with day trips to museums, weekend trips to the mountains, and sharing stories in subway cars rattling on the rails in between.  We found that we both enjoyed our community of friends in the city as much as our isolated adventures in the woods.  Whether it was floating down a river, hanging at a brewery, afternoon picnics, live music, mountain hikes, or a little urban exploration, we always managed to have a good time together.

In pursuit of higher mountains and a more laid-back lifestyle, we packed up our tiny New York City apartment in 2016 and drove cross-country to Arvada, CO with our dog, Riddle, in tow.  Upon arriving in Colorado, Heather founded the photography business and we began to specialize in weddings (particularly farm weddings that emphasize Heather's equestrian background), plopping us in the pine-covered Rocky Mountains or in the foothills of the Front Range.  Terrence originally came onboard as a second-shooter and we really found our rhythm professionally.

The first "aha moment" for us was when we were delivering a wedding we shot together and included a poem that Terrence wrote about the couple and their day as a complimentary gift.  We were so inspired by their energy and ability to bring people together over a day full of epic awesomeness that Terrence couldn't help but capture that feeling in words.  In addition to authoring and co-publishing The Immeasurable Cookbook in 2017, he has been writing for both work and pleasure for years now, with experience in journalism, copywriting, poetry, and philosophy.

Terrence's first poem was beautiful because we adored that couple.  What we didn't realize at the time was how much that couple was going to love that poem, too:  they brought it back to us a few days later and asked him to sign it.  Suddenly, it all clicked – being able to provide both a photographer and professional wedding writer was the best way to round out our services and highlight our talents.  Spoiler alert: it's also a lot of fun.

In the fall of 2018, we moved back to the East Coast to be closer to family and begin the hunt for a farm wedding venue. We got married on October 6th at Heather’s family farm in Ramsey, NJ and then settled into a little home in East Northport, NY. It’s nice to be back near the ocean again, but we certainly miss the mountains in the west! We are still taking weddings in Colorado as much as possible and are lucky to be able to work as ‘locals’ there which keeps the pricing very affordable, and of course, we love to travel so we’re always open to inquiries anywhere.

Since then, we've had the pleasure of working with many more awesome couples and finding a superior team of second shooters, an editor, and calligrapher to bring Apollo Fields to its full potential.  We are so excited for our 2019 couples and beyond, so stay tuned for all of our updates and newsletters!  Thanks for following us on this journey.
